From 2021, Samaya will be teaming up with the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix to offer bivouac experiences in the mid and high mountains. Daniel Rodrigues, Director of the Compagnie, talks about this partnership and what it means for the guides.

 

What is the nature of the partnership between Samaya and the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix? Daniel Rodrigues: Our partnership was born out of our desire to offer experiences as close to nature as possible by removing the constraints associated with traditional refuge accommodation. As a result, we have created two products in the medium and high mountains from 2021 in collaboration with Samaya to bring the bivouac experience to our customers. Samaya provides us with quality equipment, adapted to the harsh conditions of the mountains, and we bring our field expertise to the fore.

 

Risk management and liability are major issues at the heart of the guiding profession. Your company's guides use Samaya tents to accompany their clients in the high mountains. What does Samaya equipment mean to you?

DR: Being equipped by Samaya is a guarantee of quality for our guides and customers. It's the guarantee of having equipment that's adapted to our demanding practices, while guaranteeing ease of use. It's also a good image for our customers to be equipped by a French brand offering highly technical products.

 

What criteria do you consider essential when choosing bivouac equipment?

DR: The first criterion is the sturdiness of the equipment to defy the cold and wind we encounter on our outings.Weight is an important criterion that defines our ability to move around safely and easily.And in general, the quality of our equipment is key to defying all conditions, in the high and mid-mountains and in all seasons.
