BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE SAMAYA OPTI1.5 CAMPAIGN

Samaya entered the 3-season world at the start of 2023, notably with the Samaya OPTI1.5. This new equipment opens the door to an increasingly diverse range of activities, including paragliding and bivouac touring. Virginie Rastel, Communications Manager, tells us all about the latest Samaya OPTI1.5 campaign.
What is the background to this campaign?
Virginie Rastel: The Samaya OPTI1.5 is our new ultralight pole tent. This 3-season equipment can be used for a variety of activities. The first campaign announcing the launch of the Samaya OPTI1.5 focused on trail running. With this second campaign, we're diversifying the product's use with paragliding.
What was your source of inspiration, your approach to designing this 3-season campaign?

VR: Through this campaign, we hope to combine the practice of itinerant bivouacking with that of paragliding. My approach was guided by two key words: lightness and freedom. We wanted to capture the spirit of adventure that paragliding represents when you're on the move.
Why did you choose to carry out this campaign in Annecy, on the Col des Frêtes specifically?
VR: We chose to shoot in Annecy, a city located in the heart of the Alps and also the birthplace of Samaya. It was a way of echoing our French know-how. The Col des Frêtes is an emblematic spot in the region for paragliders. Access to the site is a trail route, and the paragliding departure is very steep and challenging, which fits in with our brand image. We therefore sought to demonstrate the use of our tent in real-life conditions, in a place often frequented by paragliders, in order to reinforce the credibility of our product and enable customers to project themselves into the experience.


In what way are paragliding and bivouac roaming two practices that reinforce each other and can be combined?
VR: Paragliding on the move is becoming increasingly popular, particularly in renowned races such as the RedBull X-ALPS. Paragliding and bivouac roaming are two outdoor activities which, when combined, offer users a new experience. The combination of these two uses allows users to explore new ways of experiencing sporting outings. This strengthens the connection with the natural environment and offers unprecedented flexibility in adventure planning.
What message do you want to get across with this campaign?
VR: The lightness of Samaya OPTI1.5 reflects the lightness felt when paragliding, the lightness of body and mind!
