Behind The Scenes - Reveal campaign

Samaya offers "five-star palaces in the mountains" that reflect its new definition of luxury. The 2021 product campaign created by Samaya is the fruit of a meticulous creative process for an unexpected artistic performance. For the realization of the campaign Behind The Scenescampaign, the Samaya team called on photographer Marc Daviet.

THE CREATIVE CONCEPT OF THIS CAMPAIGN.

Between elegance and performance, Samaya boldly follows in the footsteps of the pioneers who preceded it. For a powerful connection between man and nature, the final rendering presents two subjects: on the one hand, the individual, and on the other, his tent as an essential object. This five-week campaign sets the artistic direction for the brand, while positioning the ALPINE, 8K and ULTRA ranges in their intended use.

. NATURAL
Based on the essential elements of air, water and earth, Samaya aims to highlight the power and beauty of nature. The tent, a thousand-year-old object synonymous with freedom, is thus magnified. Natural textures add a distinctive graphic touch to the visual.

. MONOCHROME
The photographic work carried out around monochrome aims to sublimate the harmony between the tent and its external environment. This method brings sobriety to the visuals, with an assumed connotation towards fashion. The different colours reflect the graphic reference of each range: pink for the ALPINE range, mineral blue for the 8K range and white for the ULTRA range.

. NOCTURNE
The fact that the subject is presented in a nocturnal atmosphere is not insignificant. The two essential functions of the tent are thus highlighted: protection and recuperative comfort. Inspired by current trends, the intimate atmosphere invites us to suspend time and enjoy the moment. This quest for contemplation - on the fringe of the action - refers to the meaning of the Nepalese word "SAMAYA" which reminds us of the value of the present moment.

. HUMANIST
The instinctive and enigmatic posture of the human being symbolises communion with nature and a return to the sources. By bridging the gap with the "world below", the tent is the link between the mountain and Man. In these places, which were not designed for man to rest, the tent and its protective character play a central role. Apart from the usual "lifestyle" codes, each individual's posture has been worked on to leave room for the imagination.

. ZENITHAL
Frequently used in architecture, notably by Le Corbusier, zenithal lighting is no less relevant today. It provides a certain notion of magic and gives a "timeless" aspect to the scene. The connection to nature is reinforced and becomes omnipresent. This almost supernatural lighting also makes it possible to highlight the tent in a dark but colourful atmosphere, like a jewel in its night setting. In this way, these insignificant but meaningful places finally come to life.

In the field, photographer Marc Daviet and the Samaya team proved their agility in setting up precise, powerful scenography in constrained environments.

"On location, few images were taken (about 4-5 images per scene), with particular attention paid to detail, image balance, framing, posture and the look of objects. For a photographer, the excellence of a shot lies in the absence of retouching: press the shutter once and the image is captured. There is an immediate sense of amazement as the concept discussed for months finally comes to life. »

"On this shoot, very little post-production was done due to the good exposure of the night lighting. The 'only' work was noise reduction. None of these photos were taken in the studio. They are not retouched. The challenge for the photographer was to make a studio on location. »

For each photo shoot, the team Samaya and the photographer Marc Daviet worked until 3-4 a.m., clocking up around 12 hours of shooting per session, including the approach to the shoot location and setting up each scene. In the image of this shoot, Samaya (re)connects man to his environment. The images captured attest to this ambition, notably through the model's posture, which places her as a timeless, contemplative explorer.

Designing and creating - with passion and commitment - tools whose elegance contrasts with the radicalism of their function has become Samaya's signature.
