SAMAYA EQUIPMENT AT THE HEART OF TWO CLINICS

On the occasion of the Arc'teryx Alpine Academy, which took place from June 29 to July 2, 2023 in Chamonix, Samaya supported two trekking, mountaineering and bivouac clinics. Adrien Guillon, Product Development & Marketing Manager, looks back on the event.
Can you tell us about the Arc'teryx Alpine Academy?
Adrien Guillon: It's a festival celebrating the spirit of the mountains and the diversity of sports practiced there. For the occasion, there are international athletes, but also local guides who lead "clinics" - workshops and masterclasses on fields as varied as mountaineering, climbing, long-distance routes and trekking - in which up to 500 people could take part. It brought together a huge number of outdoor enthusiasts seeking to educate, pass on and better understand the mountains. These are values we hold dear at Samaya , so it was only natural for us to take part in this academy, one of the world's biggest mountaineering events.
Samaya was associated with two bivouac clinics. Can you tell us more about them?
AG : Samaya was associated with 2 different clinics. The first was a trekking and bivouac clinic, where the 2 guides and their group of clients set off to Mont Buet for a long hike followed by an overnight bivouac. The second clinic focused on mountaineering and bivouac, at the Aiguille du Midi, where the group spent the night before setting off on a ridge run the following day. For the bivouac nights, the tents on offer were the Samaya2.5, our new 3-season tent Samaya INSPIRE2 and the Samaya RADICAL3. Both groups were very happy with their nights in tents, despite a little trepidation about the weather conditions at the start.
Were you able to talk to any of the athletes present?
AG : Absolutely, and it was an opportunity for us to talk to our Samaya Family athletes. There are the French and European athletes we meet more regularly. Among them were Fred Degoulet and Benjamin Ribeyre who are part of the Samaya Family and who led the two bivouac workshops. We were also able to chat with our North American athletes, in particular Adam Campbell, give them equipment and discuss their future projects!
