A recent €1.5 million round of financing will enable Samaya to roll out its new definition of luxury from 2021.

 

BEHIND SAMAYA, GHISLAIN PIPERS' DREAM

The raison d'être of Samaya is linked to Ghislain Pipers, a former top-level climbing athlete. After winning several national titles and wearing France's colors internationally, Ghislain began a textile degree in 2017, during which he met Antoine Barthélemy, one of his teachers and former head of the Salomon Group's R&D division. As part of a course dedicated to innovation, Ghislain joined a group of students tasked with looking into a mountaineering tent project, with compactness, lightness and technicality as the key words. Enthused by the work, Ghislain decided to transform this academic project into a fully-fledged professional project.


THE ARRIVAL OF ARTHUR JALLAS AND THE CREATION OF SAMAYA2.5

Ghislain was soon joined by Arthur Jallas, also a former top-level athlete - former cyclist - whom he met during his sport-study course. The pair devoted all their time, money and energy to the project launch: design, prototyping, production, expedition tests (Russia, Argentina, Himalayas), optimisation, etc. The first product created is a revolutionary 4-season mountaineering tent, the most innovative ever released on the market: the Samaya2.5.


TENTS AND TRAVEL ACCESSORIES BY FAIR MEANS

For 2021, Samaya is offering three complementary ranges of custom-designed tents to suit every type of activity, as well as a range of travel accessories. With each collection, the symbolism of the shapes, the color palette, the technical innovations and the combinations of materials are enriched and renewed with the ambition of accompanying enthusiasts in all their experiences.

Inspired by mountaineer Albert Frederick Mummery's expression "by fair means", Samaya 's vision is that the method adopted also gives value to the climb. Samaya creates beautiful, high-performance, functional and sustainable objects for its enthusiasts, in keeping with its humanist values. With passion and commitment, Samaya conceives its products as keys to a unique and powerful experience of (re)connecting with nature. Samaya puts all its energy into offering "five-star palaces in the mountains" that correspond to its definition of luxury.


A FUNDRAISER FOR A NEW DEFINITION OF LUXURY

This round of fundraising will allow us to respond to 3 priority objectives:

  • Financing the development of Samaya with a focus on R&D;
  • The construction of its brand image and international development ;
  • The gradual localization of Samaya 's production resources in France, with a plant in Annecy for the production of prototypes and small series.


Among the investors convinced by Samaya's potential, as well as by the technological breakthrough it has achieved in just 15 months, two complementary personalities played a key role in setting up the financing round:

Jean-Marc Pambet

A graduate of HEC and former Chairman of Salomon, which he and his teams helped transform into the world leader in winter sports equipment and a major player in the global outdoor sports market.
