Origins

Time Passing Trough

Designing the most technical tents in the world to access with the greatest comfort and through their simplicity to moments of extreme intensity.

The Samaya® Brand

___________

It was because the ideal product did not exist that Ghislain Pipers created “the tent of his dreams”. Since the creation of Samaya®, prototypes have followed each other with the contribution of R&D on the evolution of structures and membraned fabrics as a common denominator.

Tested under laboratory conditions as well as at very high altitude around the world, Samaya® products are the result of an uncompromising level of requirements in terms of lightness, technicality and comfort. 2019 ISPO BrandNew finalist, the Samaya2.5 from the ALPINE range won its first ISPO Award in early 2020.

Distributed all over the world, Samaya® offers three complementary ranges tailor-made to suit the chosen practice. At every new collection, the vocabulary of shapes, the colour palette, the technical innovations and the material associations are enriched and renewed in respect of the humanist values of Samaya®: to create beautiful, useful, ultra-performing and durable objects for its enthusiasts.

The Samaya® Signification

___________

In a world that oscillates between what no longer exists and what does not yet exist, the Nepalese word “SAMAYA” recalls to the present moment. Beyond the personal ties between the founders and this mountainous country, Samaya® translates as “time passing trough”: a mantra which invites to offer products as tools for strong moments and multisensory experiences that one wishes to engrave vertically on the timeline.

The Samaya® DNA

___________

Samaya® is proud of its DNA of extreme commitment that leads to constantly push the limits of innovation and offer products which are simply beyond compare. Nothing is left to chance: timelessness of designs, materials & colours selectivity, technicality, lightness, compactness, comfort, attention to details, durability…

This strong culture at Samaya® is the key to design functional objects that incorporate a high level of emotional intensity and hence invite to reconnect with the outdoors. It then perpetuates with comfort and elegance the tradition of bivouac. Samaya® imagines its products as “rooms with view”, real bridges between cities and nature, action and contemplation.

The R&D Department

___________

Samaya® brings to life subversive solutions inspired by an entrepreneurial spirit and committed practices. By designing only what is imagined as the best, Samaya® wishes to accompany Mankind in places that have not been thought for life.

To perform in extreme conditions, Samaya® develops and creates innovative, intuitive and performing tools, without compromising between lightness, comfort and performance. The R&D department is one of Samaya®’s major development areas.

Through its product partners such as Dyneema®, DAC, YKK, and also its collaborations with institutions such as the CEA, various universities and PhD students, Samaya® always maintains a head start in fields related to research and innovation.

The Hexagonal Logo and the Samaya® Signature

___________

The hexagonal logo and the signature materialise the two pillars of the Samaya® creation process: balance and geometrical precision on the one hand and dynamics and artistic non-conformism on the other.

The hexagon, which is a graphic symbol of France where Samaya® has its roots – in Annecy, the heart of the French Alps – is also a structure frequently adopted by nature, starting with ice crystals. The iconic structure of the first tent created by Samaya® is hexagonal, prefiguring a unique and spontaneous symbiosis with nature.
